Islam is a deep religion no doubt and in today's world while the message of Islam is spreading faster than ever before, there's a lesser understanding of the very basics of Islam in the young generation, especially the born-muslims like me, we have taken our religion for granted and have completely forgotten the reality and importance of this beautiful peace-loving Religion.
I was watching this video of Ustad Nauman Ali Khan and I knew it right then and there what my first blog in thing line was going to be about.
I'm starting my blogs with the introduction of our enemy Azazel/Iblees or what we normally call "the Devil". He was considered a prestigious jinn fellow among the angels. He was respected by all and had a high ranking. He worshiped Allah all the time, he had a good reputation in the heavens which obvious;y was a great deal. He had enjoyed the life of heaven before the creation of Adam.
When Adam was created Allah asked Iblees to bow down to him and Iblees obviously rejected because he thought he was better than Adam. Adam was just created and Iblees had been there all this time being a high ranked jinn, respected by all creations even the angels. He thought bowing down to Adam was an insult. But he forgot that Allah would never insult any of His creations, whatever Allah offers to His creation is a trial. And this too was a test. Iblees's insult was in disobeying Allah and rejecting what he was ordered to do. He ruined everything for himself because he disobeyed.
Iblees believed in Allah, he was in fact living in the heaven. But what put him in trouble was his DISOBEDIENCE. He knew and acknowledged Allah as his Maker and Lord of everything. But he disobeyed.
What I'm trying to say here is that a lot of my brothers and sisters think they can do whatever they want in this world and they'll get away with it just because they believe. The Holy Quran clearly states that only confirming faith with your mouth is not enough, each one of us who says "we believe" will be tested by Allah azza wa jal.
If we think we're better in deen than someone else, Iblees did the same thing he said that he was better than Adam.
If we feel envy for another person, so did Iblees. He was jealous when he was ordered to bow down to Adam and this led him to disobey Allah.
If we disobey but we keep saying we believe, Iblees did the exact same thing.
Ever heard of the proverb, "actions speak louder than words"? It's almost the same thing. Saying it is not enough we must obey, we must submit ourselves for the sake of Allah. We must do the struggle and win our place in jannah/heaven. May Allah help us all in achieving it. Amen.
